Instructions

Prepare the Danish Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir them together until well mixed.

      - Add the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until you achieve a crumbly texture resembling coarse sand.

        - In a separate bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour this wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until a cohesive dough begins to form.

          - Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently for about 5 minutes, or until smooth. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

            Make the Strawberry Filling:

              - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture occasionally as it cooks for about 5-7 minutes, or until the strawberries have softened and the filling thickens.

                - Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.

                  Roll Out the Dough:

                    - Once chilled, place the dough onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a large rectangle, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

                      - Fold the dough into thirds, like a letter, and wrap it in plastic again. Chill for another 30 minutes to firm up.

                        Shape the Danishes:

                          - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

                            - On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle once more. Cut the dough into 4-inch squares.

                              - For each square, make two diagonal cuts from each corner toward the center without cutting all the way through the middle. Spoon a generous amount of the cooled strawberry filling into the center of each square.

                                - Fold the corners toward the center, pinching to seal the filling inside. Place the formed danishes on the prepared baking sheet.

                                  Egg Wash:

                                    - In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create the egg wash. Brush this mixture over the tops of the shaped danishes for a beautiful golden finish.

                                      Bake:

                                        - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the danishes are puffed and golden brown. Once baked, transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly.

                                          Prepare the Cream Cheese Glaze:

                                            - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until fully combined and smooth.

                                              Glaze and Serve:

                                                - Once the danishes have cooled, drizzle the cream cheese glaze generously over the top. Serve these delightful Strawberry Danish Delights warm or at room temperature and indulge in the heavenly flavors!
