One dish that shines in the air fryer is turkey meatballs, which are a delightful and healthier alternative to the traditional beef meatballs.

Ingredients

  • 1.0 lb ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2.0 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.0 tsp dried oregano
  • 1.0 tsp dried basil
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1.0 large egg
  • 2.0 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 cup marinara sauce
  • None leaves fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, basil, paprika, salt, pepper, egg, and fresh parsley. Mix everything together until just combined; be careful not to overmix as it can make the meatballs tough.
  • Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.0 to 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get approximately 12-16 meatballs depending on the size.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This usually takes about 3-5 minutes depending on your model.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the meatballs in a single layer in the basket, making sure they are not touching each other for even cooking.
  • Cook the meatballs in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 12-15 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even browning. They should be golden brown and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • While the meatballs cook, gently heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and serve them with the warm marinara sauce. You can garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
  • This dish is perfect over pasta, in a sub sandwich, or on its own as a healthy snack!
