Ingredients

8 ounces linguine or spaghetti

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1/4 cup high-quality olive oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste for spiciness)

Zest and juice of 1 large lemon

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Fill a large pot with water, add a generous pinch of salt, and bring it to a vigorous boil. Once boiling, add the linguine or spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta cooking water for later use.

Sauté the Asparagus: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the prepared asparagus pieces and sauté them for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften but still retain a slight crunch. Once done, remove the asparagus from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

Cook the Shrimp: With the same skillet still over medium heat, add another 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, toss in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds until the garlic releases its aromatic fragrance. Carefully add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer, seasoning with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked.

Combine Ingredients: Return the sautéed asparagus back into the skillet with the cooked shrimp. Then add the drained pasta, along with the lemon zest, lemon juice, and the reserved pasta water. Toss all the ingredients together thoroughly to ensure the sauce coats the pasta evenly, allowing everything to heat through and meld together.

Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and gently fold in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until the cheese has melted into the dish. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary. To elevate presentation, garnish the pasta with a generous sprinkle of fresh parsley before serving.

            Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 4

              - Presentation Tips: Serve the pasta warmly in shallow bowls, drizzling a little extra olive oil and a sprinkle of lemon zest on top for an added burst of flavor and visual appeal. Enjoy!
