The Romans used it to scent baths and as a culinary herb, while medieval European cooks incorporated lavender into both sweet and savory dishes. This herb's enchanting aroma and complex flavor profile have led to a resurgence in popularity, particularly in modern cooking. Ingredients

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (approximately 4-6 medium lemons)

1 cup granulated sugar

5 cups water (divided)

2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender buds

1 cup cold water (for dilution)

Fresh lemon slices, for garnish

Lavender sprigs, for garnish

Ice cubes

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the granulated sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 3-5 minutes.

Once you have a clear sugar syrup, remove it from heat and immediately stir in the dried lavender buds. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the mixture steep for 15-20 minutes to allow the lavender flavor to infuse.

After steeping, strain the lavender sugar syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher, discarding the lavender buds to keep the syrup clear and smooth.

Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the pitcher, mixing it thoroughly with the lavender syrup for a harmonious blend of flavors.

Gradually pour in 4 cups of cold water into the mixture, stirring well to combine. Taste your lemonade, and feel free to adjust the water level to your liking for a stronger or lighter flavor.

Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour, allowing all the flavors to meld together beautifully.

To serve, fill each glass to the brim with ice cubes, pour the chilled lavender lemonade over the ice, and adorn with fresh lemon slices and lavender sprigs for a delightful and elegant presentation.
