Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and drained

3 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (for a vegan alternative)

2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari, for a gluten-free option)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking spray or oil, for grilling

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Begin by pressing the tofu for at least 30 minutes to eliminate excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels, placing a heavy object such as a cast-iron skillet on top to facilitate pressing.

Make the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, combine honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk everything together until the mixture is smooth and well integrated.

Marinate the Tofu: Once the tofu is adequately pressed and moisture-free, slice it into 1-inch thick slabs. Transfer the tofu slices to a shallow dish and thoroughly pour the marinade over them, ensuring each piece is generously coated. Allow the tofu to marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or place it in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.

Preheat the Grill: Prepare your grill (or grill pan) by preheating it to a medium-high temperature. To prevent sticking, lightly grease the grill grates with cooking spray or a drizzle of oil.

Grill the Tofu: Carefully remove the tofu slabs from the marinade, making sure to reserve the leftover marinade for basting. Place the tofu slices on the preheated grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side. During grilling, occasionally baste the slabs with the reserved marinade. Grill until the tofu is golden brown and has distinct grill marks.

Serve: After grilling, take the tofu off the grill and season it with salt and pepper to taste. Enhance the presentation by garnishing with sesame seeds and freshly sliced green onions.

Enjoy: Serve the Honey Sriracha Grilled Tofu immediately, paired with steamed rice or a medley of roasted vegetables for a balanced and delightful meal.
