Ingredients

For the Turkey Burgers:

1 lb ground turkey

1/4 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for grilling)

For the Peach Salsa:

2 ripe peaches, diced

1/2 red bell pepper, finely chopped

1/4 red onion, finely chopped

1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (adjust according to heat preference)

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon lime juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional for garnish)

For Serving:

Whole grain burger buns

Crisp lettuce leaves

Sliced avocado (optional)

Extra lime wedges (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Salsa: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the diced peaches, finely chopped red bell pepper, red onion, and minced jalapeño. Drizzle in the honey and lime juice, then season liberally with salt and pepper. Gently toss the ingredients together until well mixed. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Make the Turkey Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey with whole wheat breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spatula to mix the ingredients until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as it can cause the patties to become tough.

Shape the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into burger patties, approximately 3/4 inch thick. With your thumb, create a small indentation in the center of each patty to help prevent puffing during cooking.

Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (approximately 400°F/200°C). Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent the burger patties from sticking.

Grill the Burgers: Carefully place the turkey patties on the grill. Cook them for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Refrain from pressing down on the patties with your spatula while grilling to ensure they remain juicy.

Toast the Buns (Optional): If desired, during the last few minutes of cooking, place the burger buns cut-side down directly on the grill. Toast until they are lightly golden and crisp.

Assemble the Burgers: To assemble, place a cooked turkey patty on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Top generously with crisp lettuce and a heaping spoonful of peach salsa. If using, add sliced avocado, then cap it with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Garnish your burgers with lime wedges and freshly chopped cilantro, if desired. Serve alongside a side of sweet potato fries or a refreshing salad to complete the meal.
