Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and drained

1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option)

1 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond, soy, or oat)

1 cup panko bread crumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup buffalo sauce (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Start by slicing the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes, approximately 1-inch pieces. To ensure maximum crispiness, pat each cube dry with a paper towel to eliminate any residual moisture.

Set Up the Breading Station: Organize your workspace with three bowls. In the first bowl, mix together the all-purpose or gluten-free flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In the second bowl, pour in the plant milk. Fill the third bowl with the panko bread crumbs.

Bread the Tofu: Take one tofu cube at a time and dredge it thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then, dip it into the plant milk, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, press the tofu cube into the panko bread crumbs, ensuring a good coating. Repeat this process with all the tofu until each piece is fully breaded.

Fry the Tofu: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the breaded tofu cubes in the skillet in batches—avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry each batch for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Once cooked, transfer the bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Toss in Buffalo Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, add the crispy tofu bites and pour the buffalo sauce over them. Gently toss until each piece is thoroughly coated in the tangy sauce.

Serve: Arrange the buffalo bites on a serving platter, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley for a pop of color, and serve them immediately. Pair with crunchy celery sticks and a side of vegan ranch dressing for the perfect dipping complement.
