Ingredients

1 lb white fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia)

1 cup panko bread crumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

8 small corn or flour tortillas

1 cup shredded purple cabbage

1 ripe avocado, sliced

1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 lime, cut into wedges

1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional for creaminess)

Hot sauce (optional for an extra kick)

Instructions

Prepare the Fish: Rinse the fish fillets thoroughly under cold running water, then pat them dry using paper towels. Cut the fillets into strips approximately 1 inch wide for even cooking.

Set Up Breading Station: In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and beat them until they turn frothy. In a third bowl, pour in the panko bread crumbs.

Bread the Fish: Take each fish strip and gently dredge it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s well-coated, and finish by rolling it in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure they stick. Repeat this process for all fish strips.

Air-Fry the Fish: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Arrange the breaded fish strips in a single layer within the air fryer basket, ensuring there’s space between each piece (you may need to work in batches). Lightly spray the fish with cooking spray for an extra crispy texture. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping the fish halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Warm the Tortillas: While the fish is cooking, heat the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side to make them pliable. Alternatively, wrap them in foil and place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed.

Assemble the Tacos: To build your tacos, start with a few pieces of crispy fish placed on each tortilla. Top them generously with shredded purple cabbage for crunch, add slices of creamy avocado, and sprinkle with fresh cilantro. If you like, drizzle sour cream or Greek yogurt on top and finish off with a squeeze of lime juice and a dash of your favorite hot sauce for a burst of flavor.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve the tacos right away for the best texture, garnished with extra lime wedges on the side for that zesty fresh touch!
