½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for serving)

1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (to enhance flavor complexity)
