Ingredients

1 ripe medium avocado (approximately 150g)

1/2 cup almond butter

1/2 cup maple syrup (substitute with honey if preferred)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup almond flour

1/2 cup chocolate-flavored protein powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (use dairy-free for a vegan option)

Optional: 1/4 cup crushed nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) for topping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8x8-inch baking dish by greasing it lightly or lining it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Prepare the Avocado: In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly mash the ripe avocado with a fork or a potato masher until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency, ensuring that no lumps remain.

Mix Wet Ingredients: To the mashed avocado, add the almond butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Using a whisk or spatula, blend these ingredients together until they are completely incorporated and smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, almond flour, chocolate protein powder, baking soda, and salt until the mixture is evenly blended without any clumps.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Take care not to overmix, as this will help keep your brownies soft and tender.

Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips into the brownie batter, reserving a handful to sprinkle on top if you wish.

Bake: Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly with a spatula. If you reserved chocolate chips or are using crushed nuts, sprinkle them on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.

Cool & Serve: Once baked, let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. After cooling, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into 16 squares and serve. Enjoy your rich and nutritious treat!
