Ingredients

8 oz elbow macaroni

1 lb lobster meat, cooked and roughly chopped

4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded

1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated (divided)

4 cups whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for a kick)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step ensures that your dish bakes evenly.

Cook the Macaroni: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions, typically about 7-9 minutes, until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce: In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, slowly whisk in the all-purpose flour to create a roux. Cook this mixture for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously until it turns slightly golden. Gradually pour in the whole milk, whisking constantly to prevent any lumps from forming. Continue to cook the sauce for 5-7 minutes until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Incorporate the Cheeses: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sharp cheddar, Gruyère, and half of the grated parmesan cheese. Stir until all the cheeses are completely melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with cayenne pepper (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Combine the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained macaroni, the chopped lobster meat, and the cheese sauce. Gently fold all the ingredients together until everything is evenly coated in the luscious cheese sauce.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Carefully pour the lobster mac and cheese mixture into the dish, spreading it out evenly.

Prepare the Topping: In a separate small bowl, combine the remaining grated parmesan cheese with the panko breadcrumbs. Mix well, and then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese layer for a delightful crunchy topping.

Bake: Place your prepared baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. The dish is ready when the top is golden brown and crispy, creating a beautiful texture contrast.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, allow the dish to cool for a few minutes. For a burst of freshness, garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Enjoy your indulgent Cheesy Lobster Mac and Cheese Bake! 🦞🧀
