Ingredients

2 cups penne pasta

2 cups cooked, shredded chicken breast

1 cup homemade or store-bought pesto

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for baking when you’re ready.

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot filled with boiling salted water, cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta well and set it aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until the garlic is fragrant but not browned. Pour in the heavy cream and let it come to a gentle simmer.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the pesto, Italian seasoning, and half of the grated Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup) into the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then mix everything until the sauce is smooth and well combined.

Mix Pasta and Chicken: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked penne pasta with the shredded chicken. Pour the creamy pesto Alfredo sauce over the top and gently stir until every piece of pasta and chicken is well coated with the sauce.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or a little olive oil. Pour the pasta mixture into the dish, spreading it out evenly.

Add Cheese Topping: Evenly sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the pasta to create a delicious cheesy crust.

Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in your preheated oven for 20 minutes. After that, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes. Just before serving, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and flavor.

Enjoy this creamy, flavor-packed Baked Pesto Alfredo Chicken Penne with a side salad or some warm garlic bread for a complete meal!
