Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 teaspoons sesame oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 red bell pepper, finely chopped

1 cup water chestnuts, diced

2 green onions, finely chopped

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

1 head of Butter Lettuce or Iceberg Lettuce (for wraps)

Optional toppings: Sriracha, chopped cilantro, crushed peanuts

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground chicken, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, finely chopped red bell pepper, diced water chestnuts, chopped green onions, rice vinegar, and Chinese five-spice powder. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is uniform.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to preheat at 380°F (190°C) for approximately 5 minutes. This ensures that the air fryer is at the optimal cooking temperature when you're ready to cook the chicken mixture.

Cook the Chicken Mixture: Carefully transfer the chicken mixture into the air fryer basket, spreading it out evenly to allow for proper cooking. Air fry the mixture for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning. Ensure the chicken is cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Prepare the Lettuce Wraps: While the chicken is cooking, gently separate the leaves of the lettuce head and rinse them under cold water to cleanse. Use a paper towel to pat the leaves dry, setting them aside for assembly.

Assemble the Wraps: After the chicken is cooked, remove it from the air fryer and allow it to cool for a couple of minutes. Take a lettuce leaf and place a generous spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of the leaf, creating a delightful wrap.

Garnish and Serve: Add your favorite optional toppings to the wraps, such as a drizzle of Sriracha for a spicy kick, a sprinkle of chopped cilantro for added freshness, or crushed peanuts for a satisfying crunch. Serve the wraps immediately, accompanied by lime wedges for an extra zesty flavor.
